Following are health screenings often performed on breeding Labrador Retriever adults; choosing a puppy from a breeder who tests parents for health can help avoid future health problems in your puppy:
CERF Screening (Canine Eye Research Foundation)
Elbow Displasia (OFA, by X-Ray)
Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHIP)
Narcolepsy (genetic test)
Progressing Retinal Atrophy (genetic test)
IMPORTANT: Yellow, Chocolate, and Black are the only registered colors of the Lab. Silver coloring in the Labrador is controversial; silver is considered as a form of the Chocolate color, but some authorities on the breed warn about possible crossing with Weimeraners, and that even if the lines are pure the coloring is still considered undesirable and any associated health issues with this coloring have not been determined. If you are investigating the silver color, do plenty of research into the breed, coloration, and any breeder.

Mudd Hollow is located 10 minutes north of Salt Lake in the Bountiful area. We only have one or two litters a year, and breed for quality, not quantity. We breed only to the top winning and producing sires in the country, so every breeding is precious to us. We strive for sound dogs who have looks, as well as functionality.
Our dogs come with a 3 year hip/elbow/eye guarantee, against hip/elbow displaysia, and PRA. We do health screenings to be sure that our stock has the best chance of not producing pups with these genetic problems. We require each potential home to fill out a questionnaire so that we can make the best match between personality of dogs to family life in each potential home. We are willing to ship, but prefer meeting half way. If this is not possible, of course we ship, with the buyer paying the cost of shipping and the cost of a crate.
Our upcoming breeding of Beulahland's Muddy Paw (Polly) to BIS Am/Can Ch Casbar's Hart to Hart (RJ), both dogs with appropriate hip/elbow/eye clearances, and due 3/31/08. RJ was ranked the top lab in the country last year, and recieved a group 2 at the televised National Dog Show, and won Best of Opposite Sex at Westminster. Currently, he's already in the top 5 Labs in the country. This line breeding will produce sound dogs with looks and a great temperament. Polly is a sound dog, who is a sweet heart and has been used as a therapy dog. We are currently taking deposits on this litter.
