Following are health screenings often performed on breeding Labrador Retriever adults; choosing a puppy from a breeder who tests parents for health can help avoid future health problems in your puppy:
CERF Screening (Canine Eye Research Foundation)
Elbow Displasia (OFA, by X-Ray)
Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHIP)
Narcolepsy (genetic test)
Progressing Retinal Atrophy (genetic test)
IMPORTANT: Yellow, Chocolate, and Black are the only registered colors of the Lab. Silver coloring in the Labrador is controversial; silver is considered as a form of the Chocolate color, but some authorities on the breed warn about possible crossing with Weimeraners, and that even if the lines are pure the coloring is still considered undesirable and any associated health issues with this coloring have not been determined. If you are investigating the silver color, do plenty of research into the breed, coloration, and any breeder.

Lucky Dog is a full service boarding and training facility that occasionally has a litter available of AKC registered Labrador Retrievers. We believe in breeding dogs of sound temperament and health who enhance the breed. We are working towards our goals of getting our dogs involved in obedience trials, fieldwork and hunt tests.
We currently have two litters available. Lucky Dog's Lady (Field Champion bloodlines of Candlewoods, Lean Mac, Honcho, and Obedience and Conformation bloodlines of Marshview's Razzmatazz and Ashridge)was bred to Headstart's Goldy (Field Champion Bloodlines of Cotton Pick'n Cropper, River Oaks Rascal, Candlewoods, and Itchin' To Go) Goldy specializes in upland and points. Both dogs have their hip and eye clearances, and Lady has her heart clearance. All puppies have had their dewclaws removed, will be vaccinated, wormed, and health checked before going home. There were 4 males and 5 females in the litter, all yellow. We have two males and 5 females left available as of 4/22/08.
Mike has continued to work on their hunting training with pheasant and duck wings, daily outdoor work in our lowland areas, and soon to add in the water work in our pond. All of them are working on kennel training and doing well!
Our second litter of puppies were born March 18, 2008! WK Ole's Gal (Lena) and Jolor's Up North n It JH (Ely) had a beautiful litter of seven puppies. These puppies are going to be all about temperament! Both parents are very easy to train, retrieve well, and are wonderful family pets. There are three blacks and four yellows available. As of 5/6/08 we have one yellow male spoken for, three yellow females available, one black male and one black female available. They have had their dewclaws removed and first vaccinations. They are ready for their new homes today!
