We have been raising champion quality dachshunds for over 30 years. We specialize in smooth and long hair coats in both miniature and standard. We have recently added a line of wire coat dachshunds. We adhere to the dachshund standard set by AKC and strive to produce the best in conformation, health, temperament, and intelligence. We have produced many conformation champions. We are also involved in obedience training and I have finished 3 medical alert service dogs in the last 4 years. Fairwinds dogs also volunteer as therapy dogs. I sponser Junior Handlers, as the family believes in kids and dogs. We were fortunate enough to have been mentored by Maria Hayes, Maxsohn Kennels in National City, California, and because of her we obtained our first show dogs. She passed the tradition of breeding and showing dogs to Fairwinds. Even after her passing we have carried on in her tradition. Thanks to her traditions and guidance we have "Ch. Fairwinds Pretty Woman SS", rated number 2 in the nation in 2005. She was shown in the prestigious Westminister Kennel Club show in New York in February, 2006. I have never been so proud or excited in my life. My goals are to go back to New York, to show a bred by exhibitor dachshund myself, instead of with the wonderful handler we have.
