Cedarwood Labradors began in 1979 with my interest in obedience competition and, training outstanding companion gun dogs. The only 'labrador breed club' at that time in the Northwest was in Portland, and I found myself attending every Working Certificate and hunting test, obedience trial and labrador specialty show. The goal became to selectively breed dogs that were structurally correct, excelled in breed type (head, coat, and tail), and were certified by OFA good or better for hips and eyes CERF certifed yearly.
We are very proud of the breeding line developed at CEDARWOOD in yellow, black and chocolate. Dogs earn conformation championships, obedience titles and AKC hunting titles. Litters are carefully planned from dogs OFA hips certified good or better,OFA elbows, CERF eyes yearly and, now Optigen DNA A-1 clear. These puppies have generations of soundness behind them.Dogs are excelling as companion gun dogs, as service dogs for handicapped, family pets and improving the breed each generation in type and temperament.Puppies are guaranteed.
I am a member of The Puget Sound Labrador Retriever Association, and have been a staff writer for The Labrador Quarterly Magazine since 1990.
