Located in Sebastopol, CA, I have been breeding Chesapeakes since 1975. I breed for good temperament & health, ability, trainability, and sound structure. My dogs have all health clearances through OFA, CERF & Optigen. They are sold for hunting dogs, performance dogs, and just plain pets! I show my dogs in conformation, obedience, agility, and participate in field work and hunt tests when time permits. Over the last 35 years, I have trained and titled many Chesapeakes in all venues of performance (except field trials) including two top obedience dogs who were conformation Champions with Utility obedience titles and hunt and agility titles. Both these dogs appear in the last two Chesapeake breed books, and are also Top Producers. Dogs from Sandy Oak have been sold all over the United States, and in Canada, Mexico, South America and Japan. My dogs are also my companions and part of my household.
I am a 30+ year member of The American Chesapeake Club, a Life Member and President of County Wide Dog Training Club (of Sonoma County), and a long standing member of the Marin Retriever Club. In the early 80's I also produced a collection of over 350 Chesapeake Pedigrees and 150 pages of statistical listings published through The American Chesapeake Club entitled "The History of The Chesapeake Bay Retriever by Pedigree," and know much about the history and lineage of this wonderful breed. This has also been invaluable in my ongoing breeding program.
I produce limited litters for carefully screened buyers, and do not ship puppies as I feel it's very important to meet the people/families who are being entrusted with my puppies and to make sure they have everything they need to get started off on the right footing.
